A very warm welcome to Our Lady and St Teresa’s Catholic Primary School. We are a small, family school set in beautiful grounds at the top of the hill in Cubbington. Our location includes a delightful forest site which allows for exciting outdoor curriculum opportunities. I feel very privileged and honoured to be the leader of such a wonderful, family-orientated school.

Year 5 have thoroughly enjoyed their “Writer’s Retreat” today, exploring different genres, learning how to add jeopardy to their stories, and even writing under a pseudonym!
We also spent time down in the forest, getting creative and experimenting with different ideas for our stories in the great outdoors.
We look forward to reading the finished tales after half term!

This afternoon, Ed and Nicole, our community PCSO team from Warwickshire Police, visited Year 6 and delivered a presentation. Afterwards, the children were able to have a look around their police car, looking at some of the equipment Ed and Nicole use within their roles, and asking questions 🚓 Thanks, Ed and Nicole, for your time this afternoon and all you do for our community 👮♂️ 👮♀️

This morning, Reception class delivered a wonderful assembly, all about the role of Mary in the Catholic faith ✝️ Joined by parents, parishioners and governors, we then took our annual May procession through the school grounds. On arrival at the Prayer Garden, the children that made their First Holy Communion yesterday crowned the statue of Mary and we placed offerings of flowers around her. The plants will be relocated to the planters around the school grounds, and the bouquets were this evening delivered to our friends at the Cubbington Mill Care Home 💐

Year 1 have been enjoying creative writing in their English lessons, using the Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch as a stimulus to write their own stories. With adjectives such as ‘delectable’ and ‘scrumptious’ throughout their work, we’ve no doubt we have some budding future authors in the class ✍️

May is the month of Mary, and is particularly special at OLST as Mary is one of the saints our school is named after. This statue of Mary is travelling between @ourladyofthemagnificat schools this month, allowing us time to reflect upon Mary as a wider community of schools. This week, all of the children have contributed to our Hail Mary prayer chain which is now proudly displayed in our Prayer Room 🙏 This afternoon, Mary will continue on her journey to her next school ✝️

We were delighted to come together as a school community to celebrate Mass for the Feast of St Joseph the Worker. The children read with confidence and sang beautifully, making the celebration especially meaningful.

The last day of term didn’t mean things slowed down at OLST!
The day started with a wonderful Stations of the Cross service, beautifully prepared by our Mini Vinnies. Joined by parents and parishioners, we shared in the story of Jesus’ final days on earth and the ultimate sacrifice He made for us ✝️
We were then joined by Sir Jeremy Wright, our Member of Parliament, to discuss the need for a crossing on Windmill Hill 🚦 Sir Jeremy met with the Pupil Leadership Team and the children had the opportunity to hear a bit more about Sir Jeremy’s role in Parliament!
Finally, with a focus on charitable giving during the season of Lent, it seemed fitting to round off the week with our “Sponge the Teachers” event 🧽 💦 Thank you all for your generosity 🙏

This afternoon our Reception class hosted a very special Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea for their mums and special guests.
The children were so proud to welcome everyone into school, sharing tea, cakes and some beautiful handmade cards and crafts they had prepared. It was a lovely opportunity to spend time together and celebrate the important people in their lives.
A big thank you to our wonderful Reception team for organising such a warm and joyful afternoon, and to all the families who joined us. 💐☕🍰
